There are many attractions and activities to look forward to and food tripping is on top of Pooh’s list. Here’s one of the restaurants Pooh was able to try during his trip to Cebu – Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly – Mango Ave. Branch.
What could be better than a restaurant serving lechon (roast pig)? Well, it’s a restaurant serving spicy lechon! Too bad they do not serve lechon topped with hunny. </3 :p
For only Php 640/kilo, Pooh was able to try out the original crispy and tasty lechon filled with herbs and spices that seeps through the meat perfectly. The service on the Mango Ave. branch is great, as Pooh did not have to wait for too long to satisfy his craving.
This tasty meal is best eaten with puso (hanging) rice. In reality, puso rice is actually just steamed rice wrapped in banana leaves, but the experience of eating this with the oh-so-tasty lechon should not be missed. What makes this rice special? Due to its ergonomic packaging, utensils are not needed anymore as you can just eat by merely holding the banana leaf. Being a bear who frequently goes to the province every vacation, eating without any utensils is not a new concept for Pooh.
One of the things Pooh wished this restaurant improves on is its interior. As a popular restaurant for both locals and tourists, the Cebu’s Original Lechon Belly – Mango Ave. Branch only had 3-5 tables for its customers. But otherwise, this is a must try restaurant when you’re in the area.
