There are too many Japanese food that life has to offer. One of Pooh’s favorite is takoyaki. Who would have thought that this ball of heaven is actually just junk food in Japan?! I just found out about this from a Japanese friend who generously showed us around Tokyo for a whole day during my last trip to Japan.
Here in the Philippines, Takoyaki can’t be found easily. There are food stalls on some MRT stations and malls that offer this but the closest legit takoyaki l’ve tasted is the one from Hana, which can be found in Little Tokyo. Kenshin Izakaya offers the experience of being able to make your own takoyaki from scratch but the taste is far from the real deal.
Being able to visit Japan last Oct. 2016, I won’t be able to forgive myself if I didn’t try this junk food on the country where it originated from. We passed by a Gindaco stall in Harajuku and this golfball sized piece of heaven did not disappoint. It has the right amount of crispiness on the outside which is complemented by its gooey softness inside.
For me, Takoyaki is one of the million reasons why I love Japan. And the next time you are in Japan, make sure to try this “junk food”. 🐻
